Studies show that youth athletes are better students, have stronger social skills, and are more motivated and successful employees when they enter the workforce. Click HERE to read an article about the benefits of being a student-gymnast, then read the class descriptions below.
Primarily Ages 5-7
Independent Recreational Class
Monkeys is the first "beginner" level in our boys' "Fun Fitness" recreational program. This class is designed for boys with the maturity, attention span, and energy of the average 5-7 year old. Monkeys focus on building self-confidence while properly developing grass-roots tumbling skills.
Our boys' "Fun Fitness" programs are very similar for both age groups, with the Monkeys group simply performing lower repetitions and basic versions/combinations of conditioning and tumbling skills appropriate for young and beginner level athletes. Both class levels have gymnastics elements built in to create a fun and fit experience that will help boys succeed in other sports.
Primarily Age 8+
Independent Recreational Class
Apes is designed for boys with the maturity, attention span, and energy of the average 8-12 year old. The class reinforces and builds on the tumbling elements learned in Monkeys, while introducing more complex elements and concepts.
Apes focus on building self-confidence, agility, coordination, and strength while properly developing grass-roots tumbling skills.
Our boys' "Fun Fitness" programs are very similar for both age groups, with the Apes group simply performing higher repetitions and more complex versions/combinations of conditioning and tumbling skills for older and more mature athletes. How does he move up to the next level?:
Our regular recreational classes are first based on age upon initial sign-up, then based on ability as your gymnast becomes proficient in the curriculum.
We also look for a willingness to follow direction, determination to push themselves (even during the repetitive basics or when it's "too easy"), and the confidence to respectfully ask questions of the coach when something is unclear, challenging, or painful.
Our coaches routinely discuss their students with the Recreational Coordinator at the end of class/shift. Our Recreational Coordinator will also watch classes intermittently for stand-out behavior.
We only have two levels for boys at this time. As mentioned in the helpful hints, you can add your Monkey to the waitlist for Apes to help shorten your child's wait for the next level, if there is a waitlist for him at that time.
Tips for an easy experience
1. MAKE SURE you get a confirmation email for any enrollment or party reservation you make! This is proof of your transaction in case there is a glitch in the system.
2. Double check that the birthdate and YEAR are accurate on your child's profile in your account; our classes are restricted by age, so an incorrect birth date will limit their eligibility for class enrollment. It is also good to double check that his/her name is spelled correctly.
3. You can add your child to the waitlist for ANY regular recreational level class. You are welcome to add him/her to the next level(s) to shorten his/her wait when he/she is ready to move up!
4. As long as you received a confirmation email, the transaction was successful and your spot is saved in the system. There is no need to call or email about your pending enrollment! You can always check your enrollments in your Customer Portal account. (Note: this will not show your official position on the waitlist, but will confirm that you are on the list.)
